Summer is most definitely here. The ground in the valley is dry and turning soil to dust, plants to pollen, blown away in the breeze and the stream is almost stilled to silence. Although the paths have been cut back twice this year already, in places the ferns are head height and the grass already felled and baled in the sunshine. After the cold winter, followed by a warm spring the vegetation has quite literally gone wild.
And so has the wildlife. We have early slow bees, countless butterflies, ladybirds, early staghorn beetles, adders and at night stunning moths, bats and everyone’s favorite midges, buzzing in through open windows and doors. Do get out and about and explore Lamorna at this exceptional time of the year, but equally remember when you wandering across out beautiful landscapes clear up after yourself and any pooches.
